Shaders: Background

Node Interface

Example Output

Function Used to provide a background image that will illuminate the scene
Nearest C4D equivalent Simple material with HDR texture

This shader is used with the Background Material applied to an cyEnvironment object. It can then illuminate the scene with an HDR image, without added light objects. The above example uses this method to light the scene, without additional lights.

Note: a * symbol next to the name indicates the parameter also has an input port. A # symbol indicates that the parameter can only be changed with an input node, not in the node itself.

Color *

You can change the colour directly in this parameter, but you can input the colour from any other node which has a Color output. When using this node in a Background material on a cyEnvironment object, you would normally link an HDR bitmap using an Environment Texture node (not the Image Texture node, this doesn't have the required settings).

Strength *

The strength of the illumination from the HDR image.

A shader port which can be linked with shader ports on other nodes.
